Posted on: June 29th, 2013

ABRI has prepared a series of guidelines on the safe collection, storage, transport and handling of used handheld batteries. They provide succinct information for different stakeholders on the types of batteries that can be recycled, regulations that need to be followed, and the ‘Dos’ and ‘Don’ts’ of recycling. 2. Handheld battery recycling: guidelines for offices
3. Handheld battery recycling: guidelines for public drop-off facilities
4. Handheld battery recycling: guidelines for aggregation points
5. Handheld battery recycling: guidelines for transport
6. Handheld battery recycling: guidelines for lithium batteries

A model risk assessment was also prepared for use by organisations that are involved in battery collection, storage, transport or reprocessing. This is available to members only (contact secretariat@batteryrecycling.org.au for a copy).

The risk assessment and guidelines were funded by Sustainability Victoria.
